Confirm it is a fastener pop
Look for a small, round raised spot in a line that follows a framing member. Press gently beside the area: if the panel moves or the fastener is loose, the board may need to be secured before the finish is repaired. Do not probe blindly into walls that may contain wiring or plumbing.
Fix the attachment before the finish
On sound, dry drywall, a proper repair re-secures the panel to framing with the correct drywall fastener, addresses the protruding fastener, and covers the spots with joint compound. Feather and prime
Let each thin coat of compound dry, then sand lightly, remove dust, prime the patch, and repaint. A wide feathered edge helps the repair disappear under normal lighting. Glossy paint or side lighting can make small ridges easy to see.
When several keep returning
A cluster of new pops, recurring cracks, or damp wallboard suggests a broader framing or moisture issue. Check the cause before repeating surface repairs.
